At the age of 14, there are very limited jobs that one could do, which is why it’s often difficult to find befitting strong and best jobs for 14 year olds. This is because the young person lacks the appropriate knowledge and skills required to provide the needed results in many jobs. To add to that, a fourteen-year-old is a school kid hence he or she will always be involved more in school work than a job; that means they can only get part-time jobs that need very little attention and input.

Similarly, the kid is weak and can only work for a few hours and he or she gets tired; thus they cannot be expected to be of many services in more involving jobs like building and mining.

Why it’s Hard for a 14 Year old to Get a Job

Unfortunately, there’s lots of competition in the job market nowadays especially from the more mature kids who are a bit experienced and stronger to be compared to the fourteen-year-olds.

Other than that, in some states, employing underage kids is prohibited and this has been a major setback as well for kids about 14 years to get any jobs.

However, there are various simple and less involving jobs that a fourteen year old could do so as to earn that extra penny. For the extra vigilant and hardworking kids, there are various options to explore and have a good chance of attaining a job there.

Although, most will depend on the time of the school year. If it is during school time, you can opt to go for part time jobs for 14 year olds that require only about 2 to 3 hours of work.   3. Firefighter or forest ranger- If you want to be in public service but have social anxiety, working as a firefighter or forest ranger could be a great option.
  4. School bus driver- If you love kids and want a job that doesn’t involve being with them one-on-one for nine hours a day, bring a school bus driver could be a great option.
  5. Uber/Lyft/Taxi driver- Being a for-hire driver is a great way to work on your own hours and also have practice interacting with people for short periods of time.
  6. Book store assistant- If you love books but cannot work as a librarian because you don’t have the degree, working as an assistant in a library or book store would be a great choice.
  7. Graphic designer- If you are creative and are seeking a creative outlet for a job, try searching for graphic design jobs.
  8. Court/Medical Proofreader/Transcriptionist- This job is another job that is typically work-from-home and has a lot of flexibility.
  9. Stocking jobs- If you don’t mind lifting some heavier items, try stocking jobs. Most retail stores need third-shift workers to restock.
  10. Cosmetologist- While cutting hair, taking care of nails, and perfecting makeup may seem challenging for someone with social anxiety, working as a cosmetologist could be a great option because it allows for multiple limited interactions with people.

Teen Summer Jobs

  • Lifeguard- If you’ve got lifeguard training (or can train on the job) this is a great summer job for students. Work on your tan while you earn cash.
  • Grocery Stocker- Those shelves aren’t going to restock themselves. This is high up on the easy summer jobs list.

  • Dishwasher/Waiter/Cook- Not glamorous, but restaurants always need seasonal help. These are tried and true jobs for highschool students in summer.
  • Restaurant Host- The cleanest and easiest of the good summer jobs in restaurants.
  • Ice Cream Clerk- Work with a window on a sunny day. Interact with happy people. Plus—those free ice cream bennies!
  • Fun Park Attendant- As summer jobs for teenagers go, this one’s pretty fun. The downside: Constantly saying, “please don’t stop on the giant slide.”
  • Escape Room Attendant- Do you like games and telling people what to do? See if your local escape or game room needs extra help when school’s out.
  • To Go Order Taker- Another teen summer restaurant job. Answer the phone and enter orders.

Highest Paying Jobs for Teens

  • Library Shelver- If you’re organized and you love books, check with your local library. Government jobs pay well.
  • Tutor- Tutors can make $15 to $25 an hour, and can do their work online. It’s tough to rack up 30 or more hours a week, though.
  • Shopper-  Work in-store filling bags with online orders. Pays $12 to $22 an hour. Search Indeed for “eCommerce Associate.”
  • Research Test Assistant- Researchers need helpers too. If you can be professional and follow instructions, you can be that help.
  • Book Sorter- Online book businesses sometimes need people to sort donated books. It’s boring work, so it pays relatively well.
